Before you can connect your lights to Alexa, you need to have done the following two steps:
- Installed the Smart Life app on your phone (Guide here)
- Installed at least one smart lightbulb (Guide here)
If you've done both of those things, you're ready to connect to Alexa! In order to do that, you need to enable the "Smart Life" skill for Alexa. It is a straightforward process, and detailed instructions are provided below:
Go to the Alexa Home screen, and press the menu in the top left corner.
Select "Skills & Games".
Press on the search icon.
Enter "Smart Life" and press search.
Select the Smart Life skill, as shown in the picture.
Press "Enable to use"
Enter your email address, and the password you used when setting up the Smart Life app.
Press "Authorize".
You have now connected Smart Life to Alexa, and can close the screen by pressing the X in the top right corner.
Press "Discover Devices". If you have already set up some lightbulbs in the Smart Life app, they will appear in Alexa. You can now use Alexa to control the bulbs. It is useful to define "Rooms" in Alexa to group your bulbs, so that you can control them at the same time. Enjoy your voice activated lights!
